2020 Farmhouse | $26

  • Chambourcin

  • 11.0% ABV

  • Steel

  • Virginia Appellation

  • 750 ML

Visually, the 2020 Farmhouse is clear, with the signature vibrant purple color for Chambourcin. The wine is fresh and has an elevated lift from the high amount of dissolved CO2 in it. This is due to the early bottling and stainless steel fermentation style, both uncommon things for a red wine. The 2020 Farmhouse is meant to walk the line between being a red wine and rose, with some qualities of both.

The palate matches the nose, with the fruit playing an even more dominant role. The wine sits fairly easily in the mouth, with a moderate amount of acidity. This, combined with a low amount of tannin, makes the Farmhouse extremely approachable and drinkable right from the start.

Descriptors: tangy raspberry, dark cherry, strawberry, fresh fruit, round fruit, candied fruit, meadow, green grass stalk

The 2020 Farmhouse is meant to be drunk young. However, the wine has potential to be aged for a couple of years with the more herbal components becoming more apparent. Drink within 4 years.

The 2020 Farmhouse can be slightly chilled before serving, but need not be.

2020 Hillside | $29

  • 51% Petit Verdot

  • 25% cabernet franc

  • 20% vidal blanc

  • 4% Chardonnay

  • 12.1% ABV

  • 8 Months neutral French Oak

  • virginia Appellation

  • 750 ML

This vintage of Hillside is a blend of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Vidal Blanc, and Chardonnay. Yes, that's right, we blended a bit of white in to this red wine!

Structurally this wine is medium bodied with medium tannin. Incorporating the Vidal and Chardonnay allows the Hillside to be much more approachable at a younger age than it would be if it was only Petit Verdot.

On the nose there is a spicy quality from the Petit Verdot, offering hints of sage. The fruit is immediately noticeable, in the form of rich plum and black cherry. On the palate, the violet really stands out, and the fruit transforms from something more rich/stewed on the nose to something more like fresh fruit on the palate.

The 2020 Hillside can be drunk now and up to 7+ years. There is no reason that this wine cannot be aged in bottle for a considerable amount of years, as the primary fruit flavors evolve into tertiary flavors such as leather and tobacco.

2020 Sandstone | $34

  • Cabernet FranC, MERLOT

  • 8 Months NEUTRAL French Oak

  • 12.3% ABV

  • american Appellation

  • 750 ML

Visually the 2020 Sandstone is bright cherry red and light in color.

On the nose there is no mistaking that this wine has Cabernet Franc. The giveaway for Cabernet Franc is bell pepper. Stylistically this is what we are going for with the Sandstone, as it is similar to the style coming out of the Loire Valley in France. But beyond the bell pepper there is great red fruit, specifically strawberry and cherry. The Merlot also shows itself, with the more herbal aspects of the wine and strawberry as well.

Beyond the fruit there is also an ink-like structure not noticeable from the nose. Overall the wine remains medium bodied with medium to low tannins. The complexity of the wine continues to grow with each sip, with more aromas and flavors coming into play.

2017 C&O | Sold Out

  • Petit verdot blend

  • 13.9% ABV

  • 14 Months French Oak

  • Montgomery Co, Maryland Appellation

  • 750 ml

2017 C&O has a radiant ruby color and expresses enticing sweet clove and dark cherry aromas as it opens up. This vintage will benefit from decanting. The youthful tannins support intense redcurrant and pomegranate notes on the palate. Red fruit turns towards leather and spice on the long dry finish. 2017 C&O will stand up well to heavy fare. Pair with filet mignon or braised rabbit. Cellar up to 2027.

2018 Rockridge | Sold Out

  • Pinot Noir

  • 13.9% ABV

  • 7 Months French Oak

  • 750 ML

Ripe cherry and raisin aromas are present initially as this deep garnet wine beings to open. The light body is bursting with wild strawberry notes. A very interesting cola note pairs wonderfully with sweet leather as the finish lingers. 2018 Rockridge will not disappoint when paired with a grilled Rockfish fillet or a mushroom risotto. Cellar up to 2022.

2018 Montevideo | Sold Out Until Next Vintage

  • Syrah

  • 15% ABV

  • 14 Months French Oak

  • Santa Ynez Valley Appellation

  • 750 ml

The 2018 vintage at Rocklands, the most difficult in our history, was marked by extreme rainfall during the growing season making it nearly impossible for any East Coast grower to make a full bodied red wine, or for many, any red wine at all!  Given the trying weather locally, we searched outside of the area and through a friend of Rocklands found a wonderful grower in Santa Barbara County, California, specializing in Syrah.

Clocking in at 15% ABV, Montevideo is loaded with robust tannins, showing notes of dark berry fruit, smoke, black pepper, and sagebrush.  This is a big red that will benefit from aging, but can certainly be enjoyed now as we enter into a season of cooler weather.

2019 Springhouse | $25

  • Chardonel

  • 12.7% ABV

  • Dry

  • 4 Months Steel

  • Montgomery Co, Maryland Appellation

  • 750 ml

Stone fruit aromas of apricot and apple are present initially. On the palate this wine is fresh and crisp. The finish reveals a strong backbone of acid that is accompanied by varietal pineapple and peach notes. This wine is best enjoyed young, but can be decanted after 1-2 years of aging to reveal more aromatic depth. We honestly feel as though this wine can be paired with almost any food, save perhaps the heaviest of fares.

2019 Honey Blossom | $24

  • Vidal Blanc

  • 13.6% ABV

  • Semi-Sweet

  • 6 Months Steel

  • Maryland Appellation

  • 750 ml

This wine offers an energetic tropical bouquet including fresh mango. A delightful progression of pineapple and banana are integrated nicely into the angular acidity and medium body. The lengthy finish of this vintage is accompanied by a lively orange zest. 2018 Honey Blossom will pair well with a picnic or a porch. Cellar up to 2021.

2019 Graze | $27

  • Grüner Veltliner

  • 12.4% ABV

  • 9 Months Neutral French Oak

  • american Appellation

  • 750 ml

The 2019 Graze is a delightfully aromatic wine with notes of lime, lemon & grapefruit. This wine has refreshing acidity and textured mouthfeel thanks to some barrel-aging in neutral oak.

2020 Fieldwork | $27

  • 54% Sauvignon Blanc

  • 46% Chardonnay

  • 12.2% ABV

  • Steel

  • American Appellation

  • 750 ml

The 2020 Fieldwork is visually clear and bright, with a slight green tint.

The wine is meant to be highly aromatic. With its stainless steel fermentation and early bottling, we are hoping to capture all those fresh fruit flavors that are most expressed in its beginning stages of its evolution.

Because of its time on skins, there is a textural aspect to the Fieldwork as well. Skin contact can add phenolics and these can help heighten the natural acidity present in the wine.

Descriptors: lime, lime zest, lemon curd, green apple, asian pear, white grapefruit, melon, kiwi, freshly cut grass, river stone

The 2020 Fieldwork is meant to be drunk young, ideally within the first 3 years of its life. As the wine ages, the fresh aromatics will diminish and tertiary flavors, such as nuttiness, will take on a bigger role.

2017 White Oak | $26

  • 62% Chardonnay

  • 29% Grüner Veltliner

  • 9% Chardonel

  • 13.8% ABV

  • 9 Months French Oak

  • American Appellation

  • 750 ml

This vintage of White Oak contains rich aromas of apricot and baked apples. A very interesting note of roasted macadamia nuts is also present. The acids are very well balanced and mellow. Wispy tones of lemon and white pepper round out the finish. Expect this wine to age gracefully for 3-4 years in ideal cellar conditions. Enjoy with a meat focused curry, manchego, or with wood-fired pizza.

2017 Quarry | $31

  • Chardonnay

  • 13.7% ABV

  • 22 Months French Oak

  • Montgomery Co, Maryland Appellation

  • 750 ml

Our select barrel-aged Chardonnay, Quarry is by far the "biggest" white wine we've ever made and a great white option heading into the winter months. From 100% Maryland-grown Chardonnay, we selected the best Chardonnay grapes from the 2017 harvest for Quarry. Aged 22 months in French Oak, this is a rich and giving wine with notes of caramel, vanilla, and golden apple. A tertiary almond note carries long on the finish.

2019 Quarry | $31

  • Chardonnay

  • 13.6% ABV

  • 9 Months neutral French Oak

  • Maryland Appellation

  • 750 ml

This is our go at a 100% barrel fermented chardonnay. While the wine is fermented it barrel, it is not meant to be overly oaky. Rather the hope is that the primary fruit flavors play a larger role in making up the aromatics of the wine.

Visually the Quarry is clear with some slight sediment due to it being unfiltered.

Aromas: baked apple, apple, stone fruit, baked biscuit

On the palate the wine is round with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. The lack of any sharp acidity allows the wine to rest softly in one’s mouth. The barrel aging  and malolactic fermentation are apparent not so much in aroma, but rather in the mouthfeel of the wine.  This wine can be drunk now or aged for up to 5 years.

Rosé / Orange

IMG_5503.jpg

2020 Anna's Rosé | $26

  • 11.2% ABV

  • Dry

  • 4 Months Steel

  • Maryland Appellation

  • 750 ML

The 2020 Anna’s Rose is visually clear and bright, with a light pink color.

This wine is loaded with fresh,  fruity aromatics. With its low alcohol, the rose is light bodied and easy drinking. It's lively acidity pairs well with the aromatics, making an overall edgy wine with ripe fruit flavors.

Descriptors: stone fruit (peach, apricot, nectarine),  fresh lime zest, watermelon, grapefruit, guava, jolly rancher

The 2020 Anna’s Rose is meant to be drunk young. It’s fresh aromatics will be most noticeable during its first year. It should be drunk within 3 years.

2019 Sungold | $28

  • 100% Skin-Macerated Viognier

  • 13.8% ABV

  • 15 Day Skin Macerated

  • 9 Months neutral French Oak

  • virginia Appellation

Ever heard of orange wine? Historically produced widely in Eastern Europe, "orange wine" or "amber wine" is the result of producing wine with white grapes more in the style of making red wine. The skins of the white grapes stay in contact with the juice resulting in unique floral and fruit notes, textures, tannins, and an orange tinted color not typical of a normal white wine.

Honeysuckle and pear aromas prevail initially as this elegant, rose-gold wine opens up. The medium body continues to support pear and a hint of oak on the palate. Blood orange and a hint of spiced chai mingle with supple tannins and a long finish. 2019 Sungold is a very unique wine and should be paired with an interesting dish. Try salt-cured duck breast or a snapper filet with lemon-herbed butter. Cellar up to 2024.

2020 Ancestry Pét-Nat | $35

  • Ancestral Method Chardonnay

  • 10.0% ABV

  • Barrel and Bottle Fermented

  • Maryland Appellation

  • 750 ML

The Ancestry is bright and zesty, packed with its natural acidity from the vineyard. The acidity works well with the bubbles in the wine. The bubbles themselves add a layer of complexity to the wine, both in taste and texture. These fine bubbles elevate the aromatics of the wine as well as provide a creamy texture.

Aromas: citrus (lemon, lime), tangy green apple, yeast (biscuit), wet stone

Ancestry can be drunk now or aged.

Cider

NI3A7575.jpg

Bounty (Peach Cider) | $20

  • Local Apples

  • Local Peaches

  • 8.6% ABV

  • dry

  • 750 ml

Produced with all Rocklands-grown peaches and apples from our friend Corey at McCleaf's Orchard, this is our freshest cider to-date!  Clocking in at just 8% ABV, Bounty was fermented dry and has a limey acidity balanced with a ton of fresh peach and apple notes along with a lovely creamy texture.  The perfect summer cider!  This cider is bottled fermented and unfiltered, so a bit of sediment in each bottle is normal.

NI3A7579.jpg

Kingsbury Reserve (Cherry Cider) | $22

  • Local Apples

  • Local Sweet Cherries

  • 10.3% ABV

  • dry

  • 750 ml

This was a pretty cool project almost two years in the making.  Back in 2018, our friend Gene Kingsbury (of Kingsbury Orchard) called us up to offer a load of his sweet cherries.  We used a bit for a release last season, however a good amount of fermented cherry juice continued to rest in barrel until earlier this year.  After blending with barrel-aged apple cider (also from the 2018 season), the Kingsbury Reserve was born!  Incredible nose of cherry cola on this unique and limited cider.  Very drinkable and fresh, while there's a richness and length on the palate due to the extended barrel aging.  Enjoy it while its here!

NI3A7571.jpg

Partnership (Rosé Cider) | $22

  • Local Apples

  • Petit Verdot Grapes

  • 8.8% ABv

  • Dry

  • 750 ml

The apples for Partnership were grown by our friend Matt Harsch at his orchard near Hagerstown, Maryland. Then, in lieu of blending berries with the cider like past vintages, we chose to co-ferment the apple juice with our Petit Verdot grapes, to better tie in the cider with our wine program. The Petit Verdot addition is responsible for the blush color of the cider, while also adding a bit more depth and texture.

Partnership is fermented naturally, naturally carbonated in bottle, unfined, and bottled without filtration (some natural sediment to be expected). Notes of apple, strawberry, fresh earth, herbs de Provence, rhubarb & meyer lemon.
